The Calathea Sanguine 'Triostar' is truly stunning, it's contrasting pink leaves are long and sharp with vibrant undersides that are just as captivating.

A quick note about Prayer Plants - while these humidity loving plants can do well in regular home environments, sometimes this can cause growth issues. Their leaves can rub against each other as the unfurl which causes pale stripes to form where the pigment has been removed (see photo 3) these uniform stripes are nothing to worry about and are not to be confused with pest damage which would be more organic and like thin loop-de-loops!

Calathea are closely related to Maranta as part of the 'Prayer Plant' family, named because the leaves close upwards overnight and lay back down flat in the day.

Once you get started with Calathea, you're going to be hooked!

One of our pet friendly options for those of you with furry friends who like to nibble on your plants.

Care:

Light: Bright, indirect light will encourage the best growth. Be careful of direct light as it can burn their delicate leaves.

Water: Keep soil moist but do not let it sit in water, it is recommended that you use rain or filtered water if you have hard tap water to avoid crispy edges.

Food: Feed with a weak solution once or twice a month during the growing season.

Humidity: These plants need high humidity to keep the leaves from crisping and to promote growth. Use the pebble tray method or mist but ideally place close by to a humidifier.

Quick Tip: Avoid placing in drafts.
