Aglaonema are more commonly referred to as Chinese Evergreens, even though they are native to tropical and sub-tropical regions of Asia and New Guinea, this won't stop them thriving in your UK home! They cope extremely well in low light environments and although they would prefer to be warm, humid and in a sunny spot (which would make them grow bigger and their colours more vibrant) they can adapt to most locations and are the perfect easy-care option for a beginner plant parent.

One of the things that makes the Chinese Evergreens such a popular houseplant is the amount of different varieties there are and the highly decorative patterns on their leaves. They are able to become statement pieces within your home's decor, from pale green to silvers, reds and pinks - there is an Aglaonema to fit everyone's style.

Care:

Light: These plants will thrive in a range of lights depending on what you want from the plant. A bright, indirect light will create a more diverse range in patterns and colours on the leafs.

Water: This plant likes to be moist but doesn’t want its roots to be constantly wet. Water when the top 2/3 of the soil dries out. For best results water from underneath with the use of a saucer to reduce the chance of root rot. Reduce watering during winter months and let dry out more completely.

Food: Feed once a month during growing season, if available a slow release food works best to not over power the soil.

Humidity: These plants tolerate a lower humidity however being surrounded by other plants or maybe water in a pebble tray will benefit the plant.
