The Alocasia 'Bambino Arrow' (also knows as the Jewel Alocasia) has a very similar appearance to its larger counterpart - the Alocasia 'Polly', but it leaves are smaller and it has a more compact form, making it a more suitable houseplant for smaller spaces. It's thin arrow shaped green leaves with bold white veins are crimped around the edges and have a dark purple underside, this is a striking stand-alone plant which demands to be looked at.
Care:
Light: Bright, indirect light will produce the best colouration on the leaves, however direct light will burn the leaves and cause brown, crispy tips.
Water: Keep the plant moist but not soaking, for best results a small amount of water often. For best results water from underneath with the use of a saucer to reduce the chance of root rot. Reduce watering during winter months.
Food: Feed once a month during growing season, if available a slow release food works best to not over power the soil.
Humidity: A high humidity is essential in maintaining this plant’s dramatic appearance. A decreased humidity will produce brown, crispy leaves and reduced growth.
Care tip: It is common for Alocasia to discard an old leaf after growing a new one. During the colder months your Alocasia could lose several of it's leaves or even go dormant - don't panic! It will grow back bigger and stronger in the Spring.
