The Calathea Orbifolia is part of the 'Prayer Plant' family, named because their leaves close upwards overnight and lay back down flat in the day. The Orbifolia has large round leaves with lighter silvery green stripes.
Due to the delicate nature of Calathea leaves and their sensitivity to low humidity they are prone to developing brown edges in transit, you can trim back any unsightly leaves.
Light: Bright, indirect light will encourage the best growth. Be careful of direct light as it can burn their delicate leaves.
Water: Keep soil moist but do not let it sit in water, it is recommended that you use rain or filtered water if you have hard tap water to avoid crispy edges.
Food: Feed with a weak solution once or twice a month during the growing season.
Humidity: These plants need high humidity to keep the leaves from crisping and to promote growth. Use the pebble tray method or mist but ideally place close by to a humidifier.
Quick Tip: Avoid placing in drafts.
