Also reffered to as Lithops because of their striking similarities, a Pleiospilos Nelii has a more angular form and produces much larger flowers.
Other nicknames include: 'Flowering Stones', 'Pebble Plants', 'Split Rocks', 'Cattle Hooves' and the less subtle 'Little Butts'.

'Living Stones' produce new leaves by shedding the previous layer, their tops will shrivel and dry up, don't panic! this is normal and they will soon reveal a fresh new set of leaves underneath. During this time avoid watering (new growth usually follows after a period of dormancy).
Like other succulents, you are most at risk of damaging this plant by overwatering it. Resist the urge to over-care for your 'Living Stones', allow them to dry out completely between waterings.
Pleiospilos Nelii flowers come in white, yellow and orange. They usually go dormant after flowering in order to save energy before their next growth spurt and leaf shedding.

Light: Bright sunlight will promote even growth, vibrant colours and bold patterns.
Water: Avoid watering in Summer unless they become very wrinkled (in which case give them a small amount of water), this is their dormant period and they will not grow.
Water thoroughly at the start of Autumn when you notice the first signs of fresh growth or a flower developing. For the rest of this season water when the soil is completely dry.
Avoid watering in winter whilst your 'Living Stones' are shedding their old leaves.
Resume a normal watering schedule in spring, allowing the soil to dry out.
Food: Not a requirement but if you choose to; use a light cacti fertiliser in Spring.
Humidity: Will thrive in low humidity.
