This plant is part of our 'Home Grown Propagations & Cuttings' collection, please visit this page for more information.

Supplied in a plastic pot with a diameter of 5.5cm. Sold individually. Several available. A begonia you don't see around too often, more mature versions develop a thick trunk (their caudex).

Begonia like their soil to be kept quite moist and thrive in high humidity environments. If you have a low humidity house, try keeping this plant in your bathroom near a window and the steam from your morning shower will keep the humidity levels high enough for your begonia to thrive.

Please note these plants are quite delicate and may experience some minor crisping around the edges and tips from transit, you can trim this back for aesthetic purposes.

Care:

Light: Use a filtered/indirect light to ensure your plant keeps its gorgeous bold colours.

Water: Keep soil moist but do not let it sit in water.

Food: Feed monthly during the growing season.

Humidity: These plants prefer a high humidity to keep the leaves from crisping and to promote growth.

Caudex Begonia

disappointingly small , I am 85 and hoped for a cutting I could care for and enjoy more easily

Hi Celia,

I'm sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the plant you received. I have tried emailing you but haven't receievd a response so hopefully this response will reach you

I must admit I am a bit confused as the plants we have in stock match the product images very closely, most are much larger than the photographed examples and all are very well rooted. The size diameter of the nursery pots is also listed, and a hand is used for scale alongside the title of 'propagation pot'.

We always aim for our listings to be as clear and accurate as possible so I am wondering if you could let me know what it is that made you believe a larger plant would be received?

Thanks so much
Maria
